Velvet is not as delicate as people assume — it simply has its own rules. The most important one: never brush the pile against its direction with a stiff brush.
For dusting, use a vacuum with a soft head and low suction, always moving with the pile. This also lifts flattened areas.
If liquid spills, blot immediately with a white lint-free cloth — do not rub. Rubbing spreads the stain through the pile.
To remove seat marks, hold a steam iron about 10 cm away and stroke the pile back into place by hand straight afterwards.
Finally, rotate the cushions every six months so wear stays even.
